Horenso no Gomaae

Horenso no Gomaae is a classic Japanese dish enjoyed worldwide. This recipe, featuring just four ingredients, delivers a fresh, nutty flavor that complements nearly any main dish. Ingredients
  

  • 500 g Spinach
  • 4 tablespoon Sesame Seeds
  • 2 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoon Mirin

Instructions
 

  • Cut spinach in half.
  • Separate stems from leaves.
  • Hold bottoms in water for 30 seconds, then place stems in boiling water.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes.
  • Place in cold water.
  • Place leaves in boiling water.
  • Cook for 1-2 minutes, remove when the color changes.
  • Place in cold water.
  • Strain water with hands and create bundles.
  • Cut spinach into 1” pieces.
  • Roast 4 tablespoon of sesame seeds on medium high heat, remove when color changes.
  • Grind sesame seeds.
  • Add 2 tablespoon of soy sauce and 2 tablespoon of mirin to sesame seeds.
  • Combine sesame mixture with the spinach.
  • Serve.
